HE'S ONLY
GONE AND DONE IT AGAIN!!!
Friday 13th,
unlucky for some but not for Muffin and The Racing Guild.
With the rain coming down and the going changing from
"Good to Soft" to "Soft" everything seemed to be perfect
for our boy. Not that anyone was nervous. The atmosphere
was very positive and upbeat and everyone was thinking
that Muffin would just go on and win again.
And so to
the race...
Muffin was
doing his usual, walking around sideways in the parade
ring. You can just sense he can't wait to get out onto
the course. Fergus was very relaxed and was looking forward
to riding Muffin again. As soon as he was on, that was
it. Muffin was off. Not wanting to continue walking around
the ring, he went across the grass, through a side gate
and out onto the course.
Muffin was
drawn 7 and his SP was 7-4f. There were a few minutes
delay before the start of the race when a horse managed
to get out of the stalls but then they were off.
Not a bad
start by Guilded Warrior, staying with the leading pack.
At the half way stage he was in 3rd place with a clear
run in front of him. And then with about 2 and a half
furlongs left, Fergus let him go. Guilded Warrior pulled
out in front and headed for home. A couple of the other
horses stayed with him and you knew that this race was
going to be close. After Warwick's relatively comfortable
win, Muffin was made to work a bit harder this time. With
the Guild members all watching and cheering from the parade
ring right next to the course, Guilded Warrior thundered
past winning by just over a head. What a race! What a
result. Three wins on the bounce! Everyone was overjoyed,
including the crowd, to see OUR HORSE romp home, except
for the bookies of course.
Fergus was
delighted but not surprised at another excellent win and
his only comment was "To make hay while the sun shines".
Surely he meant when it rains as Muffin seems to love
the wet weather???
Another rise
in class and carrying the extra weight just didn't seem
to phase him at all. Guilded Warrior is clearly a horse
in fine form and loving to race!
