Guilded Warrior, 1st October 2005 (Wolverhampton)

Dear all.

Did someone on an earlier thread say - and i quote - " looking forward to some fun with a capital "F" - well its come a little earlier than we thought!!! The race report has landed in my lap, needless to say i have had to wait for my hangover to clear!!

Muffin looked a picture in the pre-parade ring and strutted into the paddock with his head up and his ears pricked - looking all over the winner. ( Bound to be a bit biased) Stuart gave Fergus Sweeney the simple instructions, try to jump him out, get a bit of a lead and off the last bend come up the middle.AND THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT HE DID.

The gaps came just at the right time, as those who watched the video already know, and Muffin just seemed to keep finding for him. During the euphoria of the post race celebrations, i was very keen to catch what Fergus Sweeney said. He said - and i quote - "He's a nice horse, knows his job, did it well" we thanked him and off he went to weigh in. Its easy to be brief when you have won.

MUFFIN was Hardly Blowing and handled things very well indeed considering he had all these excited people around him. He still had his ears pricked and his head held high (I Look forward to hearing how he travelled back - did he eat up etc..)

The presentation of the trophy then followed - the girls accepted the trophy - a rather posh bottle ( a crystal decanter). Photos were taken - i think just about all members there managed to get on the podium - we were all treated to a champagne reception in Box No. 2 and showed a re-run of the race. And then there were the winnings to pick up !!!

Although Muffin finished at 14/1 - there was plenty of 16/1 available - of which yours truly helped himself to a few bob. The tote paid 18/1, of which we also had a few bob !!!

Now it all starts to get a little bit hazy - must be the bubbles in the champagne. Well done to the syndicate who landed the placepot.

In closing, I think we all raise our hats to Stuart/Tim and the team and most of all WELL DONE MUFFIN Whoever said - the fun with a capital "F" - was dead right !!!!

I hope everybody is happy with my little report - its not that easy to concentrate when your head is "banging"

Looking forward to the next one.

Regards Dave
