Joy in the Guild, 27th July 2006 (Folkestone)

Hi Everyone,

We've just got back from lovely Folkestone (my third favourite course), to quote the four seasons "oh what a night!" - our girl's gone and done it again!!!!

We arrived at the course at around 5pm, where we found that DW had taken residence in the OT bar about an hour before (no surprise there)! Tim, Steve, NIcky & myself settled in with a beer or two and the racing commenced.

None of us had much luck in the races prior to Molly's (except perhaps Tim, but I can't really remember now, and frankly, who cares?). Stuart and Neil joined us briefly, and advised that despite the humid conditions, she had travelled well and was as laid back as usual. I won't embarrass anyone by saying that there were some less than optimistic comments to be heard about Molly's prospects, but you know who you are!!!!!!!!

We carried on drinking until 7.30 or so, and then made our way to the parade ring, where we met Fergus, yet again, (what a lovely man, he's definitely on my christmas card list now!), and as usual Stuart gave him his instructions, which basically, were, "just do the same as last time"!

We made our way to the stand and watched while Molly was settled in at the rear again, never really gaining on second from last (but we like that) up until the last three furlongs or so, at which time she was brought through spectacularly by Fergus. I think it was the only time I've seen DW lost for words (please feel free to correct me at this point)!

After many hugs & kisses, and when the screaming subsided, we made our way to the Winners Enclosure, and after the photographs we were presented with a nice decanter, a bottle of champers and a video of the race. Eventually, we found ourselves back in the bar (zzzzzz) where we enjoyed a couple of bottles of champers and reflected on the night's events.

All in all, yet another great night - what more can you ask for, another 1st., surrounded by lovely people and even lovlier champers!!!!!

Good Night All,

Love the Kirbys
