In the parade ring before the race, Molly looked cool and relaxed, and oh so smart! In fact, Mandy the stable lass won 'Best Turned Out' for both of the stable's horses entered for the meeting. Well done Mandy!

The start of the race was delayed, as several horses were causing probems getting into the stalls. Those who went in early with no problems, (Molly being one of them), did well to stay calm with all the commotion going on around them.

The plan was to make a good start, get into a good position in the middle, then take it from there.Jockey Robert Havlin did just that. Molly set off at a cracking pace and was in contention in 3rd or 4th place for well over half of the race. Then she began to tire and others overtook her. A furlong from home, the pack had split into two and Molly was at the front of the second group in about 9th place. At this point, the jockey did not urge her to the finish, but let her coast in , knowing that she had run out of steam and that it would not make much difference to the placings anyway.

Our youngster coped well with the heavier ground and all that fuss at the beginning of the race, but one or two things have yet to come right for her, but it is still early days. She is young and inexperienced and we must be patient.

For only her second time out, I think Molly made a valiant effort.

Cheers Kath
