The guild members are delighted to have working on our behalf a specialist team for the selection of the guild's bloodstock. The three gentlemen who comprise the team have many years experience in the racing industry and are well known for their expertise and professionalism throughout the UK.

Gerald Cottrell (centre of picture) has been a successful trainer with many winners over more than 40 years. He is based in Dulford in East Devon. His knowledge of horses and training methods have given him a national reputation for bringing out the best in every horse he has had in his yard.

 

Stuart Kittow (pictured on the right) has worked under Gerald Cottrell as assistant trainer for over 15 years. As understudy to Gerald, Stuart is very much in the mould of the traditional trainer who always puts the horses first. But he is also very much one of the new breed of trainers, an advocate of modern methods to ensure the well-being and peak fitness of all the horses in his stable.

David Powell is a leading horse breeder who has represented a large number of influential owners and trainers in the selection and purchase of thoroughbreds. In recent years the above team, have purchased over 40 horses which Gerald and Stuart have trained on to win 137 races to date (31 July 2000). Their track record is equalled only by the track records of the horses they have purchased. They are particularly skilled at selecting horses at modest prices which have trained on to have successful careers.
