(Stablename 'Molly') |
February
21st, 2008: Both Muffin
and Molly
have had a good rest and are now back in training for
the new season.
Muffin:
Has been back in training since the start of the year
and is progressing well. Plans are to target a race at
the end of March - possibly Doncaster depending on the
conditions nearer the time.
Molly:
She is slightly behind Muffin in her training schedule
and should be ready for the end of April. Closer to the
time we will look for a suitable race, this will possibly
be over hurdles depending on how she schools over the
coming weeks.
July 14th,
2007: Muffin
made it 3 WINs on the trot last night at Chepstow and
4 WINs this year with a 3rd place also in the bag. This
was another step up in class and he certainly lived up
to expectations again. The race was a class C over 7f
at Chepstow (8.00) and once again the ground was pretty
soft. Fergus held Muffin up in touch until the final 2
furlongs when he took him into the lead one horse (Starlight
Gazer), who Muffin was giving almost 1 stone in weight
to kept with him but he held on to win by a neck with
the rest of the field trailing well behind.
July 6th,
2007: On Friday 29th June Molly
came 5th of 12 runners over 1m 4f at Folkestone in less
than ideal conditions for her. The going was soft and
Molly prefers much harder ground so it was a brave effort.
On Thursday
5th July Muffin ran another faultless race at Warwick
to win easily again while stepping up in class. This is
his 3rd WIN of the season from 4 runs!!!!!
June 17th,
2007: Great week for The Guild. Molly gets a 2nd and
Muffin takes 1st in two great runs!!!!
On Sunday
10th June (3.40) Molly
ran a good 2nd over 1m 4f at Bath and showed that she
has now recovered from her illness. She is now being targeted
for a race a at Folkestone on the 29th June.
On Friday
15th June (21.15) Muffin
destroyed the field to win by 3 ½ lengths over 7f at Chepstow.
It was an amazing run and he appeared to have much more
left in him as he led from start to finish.
May 29th,
2007: Muffin is placed 3rd at Leicester and Molly
is on the mend.
Muffin
came 3rd in a field of 12 runners yesterday in a very
good race over 6f at Leicester! It looked like coming
to the line he was going to hold on to win but he was
just beaten by an hd and a nk in a great finish.
Molly
appears to have got over her throat problems and could
be ready to race again in about 2 weeks.
Members of
the guild enjoyed an excellent day at the stables on Saturday
26th May and once again the hospitality of our trainer
Stuart Kittow and his wife Judy was second to none.
May 10th,
2007: Muffin
Wins at Kempton!!!
Muffin
won his first race of the season last night over 6f at
Kempton Park! He came first in a field of 11 runners winning
by 1L and 2 1/2L. The time was fast beating the standard
time by 0.18sec in less than perfect conditions.
May 1st,
2007: Muffin is ready!!!
Hold the
front page - it looks like our boy is raring to go!
Stuart says
that Muffin
has been training well, and after a good morning's work
he is sure that he's ready to go.
He has targeted
a 6f race on the all weather at Kempton on Wednesday,
9th May.
Molly
is fine now. She hasn't coughed, so it looks like the
medication has worked.
April
19th, 2007: Update on Molly and Muffin.
Molly
is recovering well from her cough, and is 3/4 of the way
through her last course of antibiotics. She has just started
cantering again, and Stuart will wait until she is fully
fit before targeting another race for her. Her new handicap
marks are: 51 on the turf and 46 on the all weather.
Muffin
is improving all the time, and will be ready for his first
run in a month or so, but it's too soon to target a specific
race just yet. Stuart says that he looks stronger this
year, and has hopes of an improvement in his performance,
so let's hope he's raring to go when he finally comes
out.
March
6th, 2007: Molly not well.
Following
yesterdays race Molly
was coughing a lot. We have had her scoped by the vet
and found she has some spots on her throat and so is treating
her with antibiotics. Perhaps that explains her run yesterday
as we were sure she would run a good race.
February
28th, 2007: First
race of the season for Molly!!!
While Muffin
has begun cantering this week and is strong and healthy
Molly
has been entered into her first race of the season.
Molly
is now ready for a race and she has been entered in the
meeting at Lingfield on 5th March. She is entered into
the 5.00pm race which is over 1m 2f and Dane O'Neill has
been booked as the jockey.
Muffin
has continued with his preparations and started cantering
this week so is on target for a return to the track in
May.
January
30th, 2007: Looking forward to 2007
We have a
great year to look forward to. We all know Muffin can
do a lot better then last year and now we have found the
distance for Molly there could be more to come.
Below is
the latest on each horse:
Molly
Molly spent
most of December doing road-work, she switched to slow
cantering on the gallops in January and by mid January
had stepped up her cantering to 1/2 speed which she will
do until early February before she is ready to go into
full gallops work.
She will
need a full month of flat out work on the gallops before
she is ready to race, so Stuart currently anticipates
her first race being approx mid-March, although obviously
this depends on her progress and suitable races at the
time.
Muffin
Muffin will
be coming back into training on 1st Feb.
His return
to training will follow a very similar pattern to Molly's,
with everything happening 2 months later, so he will be
on the Gallops in March and fingers crossed he will be
ready to race around mid-May.
January
30th, 2007: Look back at 2006.
We are on
the verge of a new season and have two 4 year olds that
have plenty of potential to improve and add to their success
so far. Its probably a good time to look back on the 2006
season and the high and lows of the season.
It’s
fair to say we started last season with plenty of optimism
around Muffins
chances in 2006 as he had won his final and only his second
race as a 2yr old in 2005. Our optimism appeared well
founded when in his first race of 2006 he finished 3rd
of 14 in a decent race, even though he was second top
in the weights. He then followed that up with another
3rd place in a strong race in May. Our optimism started
to turn to despair with Muffins next two runs when he
was just beaten into 4th place on both occasions: Salisbury
in May and Folkestone in June. He ran so close to winning
at Folkestone with the first 4 only separated by a nk.
We then had a real set back in June because Muffin got
loose at Chepstow when some tape got caught around his
legs behind the stalls. He then went on a tour of the
Welsh National course and became a star on the TV with
ATR filming taking a good look at the fences. He didn’t
really fully recover from this experience before we rested
him at the end of the season with hi next run being a
disappointing 12 out of 15. His last two runs of 2006
saw him going in the right direction again with a 4 out
of 13 losing a place only by a nk. and a 6 of 11 in his
last race from a poor draw.
We did not
know what to expect from Molly
in 2006 as her 2yr career during 2005 had not been covered
in glory with 4 starts a nowhere near a placing. She had
grown quite lot during the winter and dropping in class
she did start to show some promise with a 4 of 13 in her
first race, being beaten only by a shd. She then followed
this up with a couple of 5th places. We were struggling
though to find suitable races for her to run in and also
Stuart had a feeling she may do well with a step-up in
distance. In July we entered her in a selling race (not
because we intended to sell her but to get her in a race)
and also put her up in distance 3f to 1m 3f – Molly
won her
first race by 2 lengths. For her next race we put her
up another 1f in distance and run her in a handicap race
at Folkestone and she won
this by 2 1/2 lengths. In her next race she just missed
out on a place finishing fourth and then finished the
season with a 5th and a disappointing 10th on all-weather
in her last race before resting for the winter. We do
think we have now found the distance for Molly and have
thought about her possibly being able to transition to
hurdles at some point.
September
21st, 2006: Racing Guild trainer Stuart Kittow confirms
that both Molly and Muffin will now begin their winter
break. Although their final appearances resulted in below-par
performances, it has been a long season for both horses.
Between them,
they raced fifteen times. Muffin appeared seven times,
claiming two third place finishes and three fourth place
finishes although, with a bit more luck in running, some
of those could easily have been turned into bigger prize
money finishes. Molly appeared eight times, only once
finishing outside of the top five, with the obvious highlight
being the back to back race wins she registered in July.
September
11th, 2006: Molly unfortunately produces her first
poor run of the season as she trails in tenth over twelve
furlongs at Wolverhampton. Liam Keniry took the ride in
place of usual Guild pilot Fergus Sweeney but the hold-up
tactics remained the same. A starting price of 10/1 looked
generous but for once though, Molly's trademark acceleration
in the final couple of furlongs was not in evidence and
she was eased home down the field. Lolly's Spirit claimed
the win, narrowly beating the 33/1 outsider Neck and Prance
and the 7/2 favourite Wise Choice.
September
2nd, 2006: Muffin's latest run ends in disappointment
as he finishes sixth in a seven furlong race at Wolverhampton.
Although he was prominent at the front of the field as
usual, two other runners, Glenbuck and the 3/1 favourite
Hohwotanite, provided the early pace and were able to
see this right through to the winning post. Coming into
the home straight, the scene was set for a barnstorming
late run but it never quite materialised as the two leaders
kicked on again. It was the favourite who snatched the
lead with a furlong to go but Glenbuck rallied strongly
to land the spoils right on the line, returned at a price
of 6/1. Flylowflylong finished just behind in third with
Muffin a further four lengths behind in sixth.
August
31st, 2006: Muffin is confirmed as making his next
track appearance in a seven furlong race at Wolverhampton.
Returning to the scene of his triumph as a 2yo, Muffin
is set to line up against
eleven other runners in a Class 5 race.
August
25th, 2006: Molly fails to make the frame in a 15
furlong race at Bath after a slow and muddling early pace
negates her favoured hold-up tactics. Just eight runners
went to post for what looked like a competitive race.
Unfortunately, no-one seemed to want to take on the early
pace, resulting in a serene early jog through the Bath
countryside. Molly was held up off the pace as per usual
and with four furlongs to go, Fergus Sweeney pushed her
for a finishing effort. The first few back markers were
picked off with the usual ease. However, none of the front
runners had been stretched up until that point and the
leading group showed that they too had plenty in the tank.
Long-time leader Phone In pulled away down the home straight
but was collared a furlong from the finish by the 7/2
shot Wings of Dawn. Squirtle, the 5/2 fav, finished third
behind Phone In with Molly back in fifth.
Fergus Sweeney
reported that the slow early pace had cost Molly dear
as none of the leaders were flat out and tiring when she
made her move. Consequently, she seemed to lose heart
when she wasn't able to make her usual progress through
the field. Trainer Stuart Kittow did appear to be musing
over the idea of a return to an all-weather track - which
may guarantee a faster early gallop - for her next run.
August
21st, 2006: Molly could be back in action by the end
of the week as Guild trainer Stuart Kittow aims her for
a run over thirteen furlongs at Bath on August 25th. Stepping
up to Class 5 action, Guild members will be hoping that
her current run of hot form continues.
August
12th, 2006: Muffin steps back up in trip and seemingly
back into form as he registers a fourth place finish in
a competitive Class 5 seven furlong race on the Lingfield
all-weather track. After his previous disappointment at
Bath, Muffin was sent off at a generous price of 16/1.
Jockey Fergus Sweeney held him up nearer the rear of the
field than in previous races but produced him for a late
run on the outside with a furlong to go. Despite showing
the best finishing speed of the leading pack, he wasn't
quite able to haul the leaders in and finished two lengths
down on the winner, the 8/1 shot James Street. Sovereignty
was just edged out in second with Hollow Jo a further
length back. The 5/1 favourite Captain Darling was back
in sixth.
After an
uncharacteristically poor run at Bath, this was more like
the Muffin of earlier in the season, when a win appeared
to be inevitable. The Racing Post certainly agreed, claiming
that "Guilded Warrior didn't perform
when dropped to a sprint distance on his previous run,
but this effort was most encouraging. Well back early
on, he tried to circumnavigate the field and finished
better than anything. He is primed for imminent success".
Guild members will hope that this prediction comes true
sooner rather than later. Lest we forget, his career form-line
is still an impressive 61334404.
August
10th, 2006: Molly narrowly fails to bag a hat-trick
of wins after she is forced down to fourth place in a
twelve furlong race at Chepstow. For once, the hold-up
tactics didn't quite work. With the gaps in the field
failing to materialise, Molly and her regular pilot Fergus
Sweeney could not get a clear run until it was just too
late. Despite this, a late surge at the furlong post briefly
raised her connections' hopes but these were dashed as
the leaders managed to hold off her late rally.
The spoils
were ultimately landed by the favourite Equilibria whose
starting price of 7/2 was the result of some heavy late
betting. The late money was justified as the gelding held
off a spirited late challenge by Nina Fontenail to win
by a length. Guardiana was a further 1 ¾ lengths back
in third, a neck ahead of Molly. That still meant another
small prize money amount heading for the Racing Guild
coffers though, meaning that Molly is drawing ever closer
to the point at which she will have won back the amount
of money which the Guild paid out for her in the 2004
sales.
August
2nd, 2006: It appears that it's not just beaten horses
who are desperate to catch up with Molly. The handicapper
seems pretty keen to keep up too, raising her official
handicap mark from 49 to 55 as a result of her recent
Folkestone win.
July 27th,
2006: Double Joy! Molly makes it two out of two with
her best run so far as she trounces a nine runner field
at Folkestone. Stepping up yet again in distance to 1m4f,
regular pilot Fergus Sweeney once more kept Molly completely
switched off at the back of the field for the majority
of the race. The early pace was provided by Polish Welcome
but it was insufficient to drop off any of the chasing
pack except for the struggling Rockatorri, the only horse
behind Molly for most of the race. With just over two
furlongs to go, Sweeney made his move. The early leaders
were engulfed and while Irish Whispers and Captain Bolsh
were able to match Molly's initial burst, she soon eased
away from them to win by two and a half lengths. The heavily
backed favourite, Kings Fable, trailed home in seventh.
Despite
winning her previous race, Molly was sent off at a surprisingly
long price of 10/1, not that Racing Guild members were
complaining, especially as she was still going away strongly
at the finish, hinting that there could perhaps be even
more to come.
The win is
also continued evidence of the hot streak of form being
enjoyed by Racing Guild trainer Stuart Kittow. This is
already his most successful season in terms of winners
for the past five years - and with plenty more races still
to come.
Reporting
on Molly's second career win, the Racing Post said "JOY
IN THE GUILD was given a patient ride by Fergus Sweeney,
who sat his mount off the pace and made his move as the
field turned for home. He poked through a gap towards
the inside rail and was pulled away in the final furlong.
She only got off the mark in a seller last time and is
an improving type".
July 12th,
2006: As
a result of her recent Warwick win, Molly's handicap jumps
back up to 49. That should be good enough to get her back
into the grade of racing she was looking for at the start
of the year, leaving the dreaded sellers and claimers
behind.
July 10th,
2006: The ups and downs of racing. Three days after
Molly's maiden win, Muffin was back on the track, competing
in a five furlong sprint at Bath. Unfortunately, with
expectations high after his previous near misses this
season, this was undoubtedly a bad day at the office for
the Guild's star turn as he finished 12th of the 15 runners,
having never really got out of second gear. Regular pilot
Fergus Sweeney was bemused by Muffin's performance as
he simply failed to pick up after the hustle and bustle
of the first two furlongs and never seriously troubled
the leaders. The race was won by the heavily-backed favourite
Libor but the topsy-turvy nature of this race was exemplified
by the long odds available for the two horses making the
places, Boldinor taking second at 50/1 and Safari Mischief
at 33/1.
There was
some comment that Muffin may be best served by losing
the visor which he has worn for the past two races; a
trick which may have lost its novelty value. TRG members
hope to see him back to his old self at his next outing.
July 7th,
2006: Joy unconfined! Molly picks up her maiden win
at Warwick. Stepped up yet again in trip to nearly eleven
furlongs, Molly's tactics worked to perfection, seeing
her ease home by two lengths, returned at an SP of 11/2.
Under regular Guild jockey Fergus Sweeney, Molly was again
held up right at the back of the field in the early stages.
The eleven runners were already becoming strung out when
three horses made a move six furlongs out, stretching
into an eight length lead and making it look like Molly's
hold-up tactics were going to be blown out of the water.
Refusing
to panic, Sweeney edged her through the field and up into
about sixth or seventh as they rounded the top bend with
four furlongs to go. At this point, the fast early pace
started to play into Molly's hands. A well strung out
field presented her with no traffic problems while the
leaders started to pay for their early exertions. Picking
the leaders off one by one, Molly hit the front with a
furlong to go and never looked like being beaten. She
won by two lengths from Simplified, with Flashing Floozie
¾ of a length back in third. The favourite, Anasena, was
back in fifth.
As the race
was a seller, Molly had to head straight for the auction
ring but as no bid was forthcoming, much to the relief
of the assembled TRG members, she headed home for sunny
Devon, safe in the knowledge that her winning performance
should mean an imminent return to a better class of racing.
Summarising
her race, the Racing Post claimed that JOY IN THE GUILD
had failed to reach a place in seven previous starts but
had been running as if a step up from a mile would suit
her and so it proved as she came from well off the pace
to win with a little bit to spare.
June 28,
2006: After a six week break, Molly returns to competitive
action in a one mile race at Bath. With Liam Keniry on
board, Molly's early tactics are an exact repeat of her
promising run at Wolverhampton back in April. Held up
right at the back for the early stages of the race, Keniry
start ed to move her through the field after the halfway
mark. As at Wolverhampton, the speed over the final furlong
or so was there for all to see but unfortunately there
was just too much ground to make up and Keniry was never
able to get a completely clear run. Thornfield Clo ran
out a clear winner by two lengths from Penang Cinta but
second to sixth were covered by just two further lengths
with The Jailer, fast becoming a recurrent thorn in Molly's
side, finishing well in third. With Molly still running
on well at the end, there has been some talk of a possible
move up to ten furlongs but trainer Stuart Kittow may
yet prefer to stay with the mile trip but aim to keep
her slightly closer to the rear of the field in the early
stages.
Despite the
disappointment, it should not be forgotten that Molly,
whose two year old form read
11th, , 10th, 14th and 12th, has a consistent record this
year, with a 2006 form-line of 455. In similar vein, Muffin's
form for 2006 reads 3-3-4-4. Surely a win is just around
the corner.
June 16,
2006: Plenty of celebrations at the yard of Racing
Guild trainer Stuart Kittow as one of his other charges,
Dove Cottage, makes it two wins from two attempts, both
victories coming over ten furlongs at Chepstow and within
just fifteen days of each other. Dove Cottage will now
go for his hat-trick in a class four race at Epsom on
July 6.
June
12, 2006: Stepping up to Class 4 racing, Muffin finishes
in the prize money again but it?s still not quite the
result that Guild members were hoping for as he is squeezed
into fourth place in a highly competitive six runner,
six furlong race at Folkestone. Alan Munro took the ride
in place of usual pilot Fergus Sweeney but the tactics
were no different. Jumping out quickly, Muffin ? visored
for the first time - was soon into his stride and settled
in second place. With two furlongs to go, Munro called
for an extra effort and with just one furlong to go, Muffin
had his nose in front. However, with the whole field bunched
together at that point except for the labouring Smooch,
Muffin was ultimately edged out in a four way blanket
finish, with the spoils being landed by Didn't We. The
Dettori-ridden Yellow Card was second, with Patavium Prince
(who had triumphed in Muffin's race at Salisbury on May
18) third. The distances between the front four were a
mere short head, a neck and a neck. A frustrating result
but a fair indication of his ability to mix it in this
company seems to be the consensus view.
May 30,
2006: In what could prove to be an interesting guide
to Muffin's future prospects, two of his sparring partners
from this season 's early races 'Gavarnie Beau and Garstang'
step up to class 4 racing and finish 1st and 2nd respectively
on heavy ground at Haydock on May 26. Gavarnie Beau follows
up that win four days later with another class 4 win at
Leicester, despite his six pound penalty.
May 21,
2006: Guild members assemble at the Kittow stables
in Cullompton in Devon for the annual stable visit. This
is a unique opportunity to see the Guild's two horses,
along with rest of trainer Stuart Kittow's 16-strong string,
at close quarters.
Molly looks
in fine form on the gallops, although the driving rain
makes it slightly less of a spectacle than the viewing
members may have hoped for!
Muffin makes
a sedate appearance in the yard as he continues to rest
after his run just three days earlier. Both horses look
in fine fettle and hopes are high for the rest of the
season. As well as seeing the horses, the visit is a good
opportunity for the members, many of whom have never been
anywhere near a stable, to see how a fully operational
racing yard works and to quiz Stuart at length about the
future plans for both Molly and Muffin.
May 18,
2006: Muffin again makes the prize money frame but
Guild members have to settle for a fourth place finish
from their promising three year old.
Running
over six furlongs at Salisbury, Muffin was installed as
the 6/1 second favourite out of 16 runners as they went
to post. Strongly fancied favourite George the Second
paid for a strong early gallop and soon faded. As Muffin'
s two fellow topweights faded back to 14th and last, the
path to victory seemed clear as jockey Fergus Sweeney
nosed Muffin into the lead with a furlong to go. Unfortunately,
Muffin seemed unable to find another gear on this occasion
and had to hang on grimly for the minor places as three
of the lesser fancied horses came past him, led by 14/1
shot Patavium Prince and Arculinge and Catherines Café
both of whom were returned at 20/1.
May 15,
2006: Molly 's latest run ends with a 5th place finish
in an eight furlong race at Kempton. As with her races
last year, Molly found herself much nearer the front of
the pack than is ideal for her. The fast early pace was
set by The Jailer - whose similar tactics in Molly 's
previous race at Wolverhampton had seen him collared on
the line in a tight finish . Neither horse was to improve
on their positions from that earlier race, paying for
their early speed when Maidford came from the rear of
the field to land the spoils by four clear lengths. One
piece of the Wolverhampton form was turned around however
as Skye Boat Song, who pipped Molly for third in a photo
finish, ended the race as last but one of the 14 runners.
May 3rd,
2006: The good performances just keep on coming as
Muffin follows up his third place at Folkestone; this
time over six furlongs at Lingfield, being returned at
a price of 6/1. Undoubtedly disadvantaged by an outside
draw which saw him forced wide as the pack rounded the
tight Lingfield bends almost four abreast, Muffin still
clung on to the leaders gamely but was ultimately beaten
by three lengths by Garstang. Considering the extra hundred
yards he must have run compared to anyone else in the
field, this was still no mean achievement. The improvement
in Muffin after his first run was evident as Gavarnie
Beau, who finished ahead of Muffin at Folkestone, was
relegated to fifth place, despite going off as the 9/4
favourite.
Attention
now switches to Molly as she makes her second appearance
of the season on May 15th at Kempton.
April
25th, 2006: The start to the 2006 season just gets
better and better as Molly finishes 4th in her first appearance
of the season. Racing over a mile at Wolverhampton, Molly
was held up right at the back of the field by jockey Liam
Keniry for the first half-mile but was then produced late
to display a previously unseen finishing kick. While this
effort was not quite enough to catch the two leaders,
she did appear to have collared Skye Boat Song on the
line for 3rd place but was denied in a photo finish.
Running at
a greater distance than six furlongs for the first time
in her career, the run represents a major success for
trainer Stuart Kittow and his decision to try the longer
distance and insist on holding her up at the rear of the
field in the early stages. A second run over a mile on
the all-weather now seems a certainty for Molly's next
run.
Meanwhile,
stablemate Muffin is still scheduled to run at Lingfield
on May 3rd, subject to any changes to his handicap.
April
21st, 2006: The good run of form for the yard of Guild
trainer Stuart Kittow continues as his 100/1 shot Rydal
Mount claims a place finish at Newbury. Kittow confirms
that Molly will now make her reappearance at Wolverhampton
on April 25 while Muffin is pencilled in for a run at
Lingfield on May 3
April
11th, 2006: The Racing Guild's 2006 campaign gets
up and running in good style as Muffin claims a credible
third place finish in a six furlong race at Folkestone.
Prominent throughout, he was eventually beaten by two
horses who had already had one run under their belt this
year - Roman Quest and the fast-finishing Gavarnie Beau.
Returned at a price of 9/1, Muffin's run hinted at much
better things to come and trainer Stuart Kittow certainly
feels Muffin will benefit immensely from this race.
On the same
day, the Kittow yard found itself celebrating at Bath
as Carson's Spirit landed the spoils in a 13 runner 5f
sprint. With Chris Catlin on board, this was Carson's
Spirit's racecourse debut and the first time that Kittow
has landed a win with a horse on debut.
April
4th, 2006: Trainer
Stuart Kittow gets his 2006 season up and running as he
saddles his first two runners of the year. Dancing Storm
is the first one back out on track on April 3rd and duly
finishes a credible 6th out of 14 in a six furlong sprint
at Southwell. She was followed out the next day by Dove
Cottage who came second in an eleven furlong race at Warwick
eturned at odds of 11/1.
March
20th, 2006: Trainer
Stuart Kittow confirms that it is now more likely that
Muffin will make his racecourse reappearance in April
- ahead of Molly - as his training has progressed ahead
of schedule. With soft ground preferred for the three
year old colt, an appearance on an all-weather course
is not being ruled out.
January
31st, 2006: Both of the Guild's 3yos are now back
on the gallops as training is stepped up ahead of the
2006 Flat season. Early indications are that Molly is
being aimed at a racecourse return in April with Muffin
to follow a month later.
January 14th, 2006: Trainer Stuart Kittow reports
that both Molly and Muffin are now back in training and
will be undertaking road work for most of the month. Both
horses have grown a lot over the winter months, with Molly
in particular having filled out and looking a lot stronger.
October
22nd, 2005: Guilded Warrior's form is franked somewhat
after Soviet Legend, beaten a full 13 lengths behind Guilded
Warrior at Wolverhampton, wins next time out, squeaking
home by a short head from Tombalina in a five furlong
maiden at Wolverhampton.
October
10th, 2005: Guilded Warrior's stablemate, Joy in the
Guild (stablename Molly), fails to make the frame in a
six furlong race at Leicester. Allowed to run too freely
in the early stages, Molly tires and drops back down the
field. However, the 2yo mare continues to show good early
speed; something which bodes well for the 2006 campaign
- which she will begin with an official rating of 45.
After four races in 2005, Molly now joins her stablemate
Muffin in being turned out for the winter. Both horses
will return to training in January.
October
1st, 2005: The second generation of Racing Guild racehorses
register their first win as Guilded Warrior storms home
to land the spoils in a six furlong race at Wolverhampton.
In just his second career race, Guilded Warrior (stablename
Muffin) comes through the pack late on to beat Shunkawakhan
by a length and is returned at a price of 14/1. After
a quiet year waiting for the two new two-year olds to
be broken in, Muffin's win is the Guild's first win since
Guilded Flyer landed the spoils at Chester in May 2004.
Jockey
Fergus Sweeney reports that Muffin "did his job perfectly",
allowing him an easy ride as he timed his run to the line
brilliantly. The Racing Post report that "there was
plenty to like about GUILDED WARRIOR's success
on only his second start. He looked a galloping sort who
is strengthening into his frame".
